When you look up the definition of “A picture is worth a thousand words,” shouldn’t there just be a picture there? If so, this might as well be it. The North of Boston Jew Crew has been bringing together teens from around the North Shore together since 2006. There is no real mystery here. Rabbi Shmaya, as he is lovingly known, has become a beloved teacher, mentor, and spiritual advisor to so many teens – who know they can call or message him – or just show up – and know that he is there for them. Best of all, he lives right here in town among our teens. He and his wife, Aliza Friedman, regularly open up their own home to host large gatherings of our North Shore Teens. Whether it’s for informal classes on the high holidays, social gatherings, or Shabbat dinners, the annual New York trip or Tikkun Olam projects, the happy smiling faces tell an inspiring story. This is a story that needs to be told. This growing teen community is good news for this community… it’s actually great news!
