The Journal’s “Malden students, teachers honor Shoah victims at memorial,” which ran on September 21 and was written by Penny Schwartz, nurtures my faith in humanity. That students initiated this ceremonial project and were given full support from educators and diverse community members is another reminder of why the youth of today are worthy of all of our love and concern.
The photos, in particular, reassure me of this. The pictures were not posed “photo opportunities.” They depict people of all ages and different heritages coming together to honor even more than the fully worthy people who suffer from the Shoah. They honor the human capacity to care about each other as members of a collective family.
