Letter to the Editor: Some Danes were paid to save Jews

Regarding the recent article about the rescue of Danish Jews during World War II (Journal, March 8):

I was one of the children on the fishing boats that ferried the Jews over to Sweden. While the Danish underground and many ordinary Danish citizens helped in that endeavor at great risk to themselves, it must be mentioned that many of the Danish fishermen were paid per head to transport the Danish Jews over to Sweden.
