The answer is YES! American Jews are headed for big trouble as so ably articulated in the Jewish Journal by Judith Bergman on February 21st. She is absolutely correct when she says that, “The American Jewish community seems to be facing a threat that it appears quite content to ignore.”
The vast majority of American Jews who ignore the danger Ms. Bergman describes do so by keeping their heads in the sand and their philosophy apparently is – if we ignore this growing anti-Semitism, perhaps it will go away. To them I say – wake up! However, there is another set of Jews, much smaller in number, but very vocal. These other Jews also ignore this danger because they worship on the altar of a new god, a perverted form of social justice. These foolish social justice Jews make excuses for anti-Semites and even call for other Jews to muffle their concerns about anti-Semitism because they feel that there are more important issues for society to address and complaints about anti-Semitism by Jews leave less room to address supposedly more important issues. In other words, these social justice fanatics feel that American Jews have white privilege and so American Jews should sacrifice their own interests to the interests of others for the greater good.
To these Jews who fervently worship on the altar of their own version of social justice, a form of social justice clearly detrimental to the entire American Jewish community, I say – shame on you, stop it!
This is 2019 and the political landscape is rapidly changing, as Ms. Bergman points out. The time has come for the American Jewish community to stop living in the 20th century and start to address the growing problems it faces with new leaders and new ideas.
