Iris Bregman Familant, 86, died on August 24, 2019 at her assisted living home in North Andover.
She was born January 18, 1933 in Bronx, N.Y., to the late Ann and Ben Bregman. She married the love of her life, Stanley Gabriel Familant, in June, 1954, who preceded her in death in 2010.
Iris loved people and lit up those she met with her effusive personality. Iris was a giver, sending cards, presents and food to her friends and family. She shared her love of cooking with her matzah ball soup, homemade lox and chocolate dipped candy.
For many years, she and her husband Stanley owned a small business in Florida making decals and labels. Iris also worked into her 80s teaching English as a Second Language in Coral Springs, Fla. In her retirement, Iris and her husband hosted many family gatherings at their Berkshires summer home in Lee. She enjoyed times with her Florida friends playing bridge, mahjong, going to shows, swimming and organizing multiple book clubs.
Iris is survived by her three children Elyse, Neil, and Mark; Elyse’s husband Doug Leaffer and their children Cerena and Joshua, and Mark’s wife Lynne and their children Jacob and Sarah, her husband Kerry and their children Mark and Cassidy, all of whom she loved and touched deeply.
Please join us celebrating her life at 4 p.m., Friday, August 30 at Temple Emanuel, Andover. Family and friends are also invited to sit Shiva after the service on Friday from 6-8 p.m., Saturday 5-8 p.m., and Sunday 5-8 p.m., at 108 Hickory Hill Road, North Andover.
