Tamar Levy-Gedacht celebrated her bat mitzvah on Aug. 10 at Temple Emmanuel in Chelsea. Tamar was born in the Philippines. Her mother, Ester, is originally from Israel, and her father, Dan, is American and was born in Milford. She currently lives in Busan, South Korea, where Dan heads up the U.S. Consulate.
Her father’s career as a Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. State Department has taken the family all over the world.
In addition to the Philippines, Tamar, along with her sister Ariel, 14, and twin brothers Raphael and Max, 8½, have lived in Israel, India, Poland, and now South Korea.
She currently attends the International School of Busan and will start sixth grade in the fall. She likes to sing, skateboard, and has a black belt in taekwondo. During her time overseas she met former Vice President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama.
Her grandparents, Carl and Sharon Minkovitz, live in Revere and are very proud of her.
