Edith Lovins, 88, of Swampscott, entered into rest on June 27, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Lovins, with whom she shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Devoted mother of Susan Weiner and her husband Lawrence and David Lovins and his wife Joan. Cherished grandmother of Elana Weiner, Samantha Lovins, and Joshua Lovins. The loving sister of Edward Barrell, the late Ida Barrell, the late Ruth Barrell, and the late Pauline Chandler. Dear daughter of the late Benjamin and Ethel (Halperin) Barrell.
Born on February 1, 1933, Edith grew up in Peabody and raised her family in Swampscott. She had several passions in her life – painting, music, gardening, cooking, and knitting – but the one that stood out most of all was taking care of and the spoiling of her three grandchildren. They were her pride and joy.
A funeral service for Edith will be held on Thursday, July 1 at 11:30 a.m., at Pride of Lynn Cemetery, 89 Lake Shore Road, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Edith’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, or to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
