We all have a right to our opinions and so it is with letter writer Leonard Freidman who praises Netanyahu for his education, military service, and past accomplishments (“In praise of Bibi,” Jewish Journal, June 17). All are noteworthy and well taken.
The other side of the coin is the simple fact that power sometimes has a corrupting influence on politicians. The former prime minister is now under investigation for bribery, fraud and other violations of trust. Religious extremists have also pushed him so far right as to be unrecognizable as the original politician who arrived on the scene. Unfortunately, Bibi is doing everything he can to undermine Israel’s new unity government.
