On May 19, Gov. Maura Healey celebrated Jewish American Heritage Month, joined by Massachusetts Jewish community leaders, State Treasurer Deb Goldberg, Senate President Karen Spilka, and other administration officials. The event recognized the contributions of the Jewish community in Massachusetts. The office of the governor featured an art installation by Boston-based Jewish photographer Ilene Pearlman, whose collection shows the diversity of Jewish communities around the world.

“We are proud of our history in Massachusetts, and proud of our leadership in America and the world; and that success, that leadership, has depended on the contributions of the Jewish community,” Healey said. “The Jewish community has always been there in, and for, our state; and we must always be there for you.

“That is especially true in these difficult times, with an alarming rise in antisemitism happening here and around the world. Our message today, and every day, is this: We stand together in Massachusetts. We will call out antisemitism wherever we see it, and we will stamp out antisemitism wherever it rears its ugly head. We know where it leads.”
